These are panels I made for thru Rochester art show. It takes place this Saturday.
This is a name plate I am now working on. The pink piece of glass will go to Lynn & she will paint her name. Then I will fuse it & finish with stained glass.
It's hard to see but the peacock came out of the kiln with a bubble which is the first picture. I ground out the bubble & have it soaking in vinegar in the second pic. I then patched it by filling in the space with frit. So now I put it back into the kiln & cross my fingers.
Lynn the other artist I work with has painted on this piece of glass with ink. I now fuse it to make the ink part of the glass. Then my plan is to make a geometric stained glass panel. It's a cool process pulling together 3 mediums.
This is quite a process. The first picture is called raking. I lined up multiple strips of glass several different colors. Put it in the kiln & at a certain degree was able to move the glass with a rake creating this block. Then I cut it into pieces & surrounded it with multiple pieces of glass {8 on top & 8 on the bottom}. Back to the kiln & 2 firings later a fused bowl.
Lynn & I added a few more windows at Three Sisters Eclectic in St Paul. A great gift shop featuring local artists.
